COVID-19: NIPM unveils Supply Chain Operations Council

Nigerian Institute of Production Management (NIPM) President, Dr Olaniyi Opanuga has said that the globally ravaging impact of coronavirus pandemic occasioning lockdown had led to the shutdown of most production lines nationwide, halted contracts and projects, disrupted supply chains and general business operations in Nigeria with dire consequences including making jobs vulnerable.

 
“Given operational disruptions following  the outbreak  of COVID-19 leading to massive massive shutdowns affecting industrial and commercial organisations, the Nigerian Institute  of Production Management(NIPM) has established the Council for Supply Chain And Operations Management (CSCOM).”
According to Dr Opanuga ” by the time this pandemic is over we will straighten  the network of our membership to work on how to recover operational  capability, increase supply chain and operational resilience for competitive advantage ”

 
” This is a reminder that organisations need to build supply chain resilience, increase operational agility, review risk management strategies and strengthen their operational capabilities ” Dr Opanuga  asserted.
“On our part as a regulatory professional association we are upscaling capacity and stepping up professional education and training of our members to boost emergency response capabilities, increase line utilisation and throughput, increase speed and efficiency of customer service delivery system, intensify lean practices,increase productivity and profitability” he concluded.
